Money Raised at June’s “Beach Ball” at Narragansett’s Dunes Club Will Fund Grants for the East Greenwich Public Schools
EAST GREENWICH — The East Greenwich Education Foundation (EGEF) today announced that it raised a total of $27,294 at the non-profit organization’s June 2nd event. The money will be allocated during the upcoming academic year to support projects proposed by teachers throughout the East Greenwich school district. Educators in every public school in the town are invited to submit grant proposals to take advantage of this funding.
“Once again, we are all reminded of how lucky we are to live in a town like East Greenwich, where there is such widespread support for our public schools,” said Susan Riley, EGEF’s President. “The ‘Beach Ball’ is EGEF’s biggest fundraiser of the year and we were so encouraged to see so many of neighbors come out to support innovation and engagement in all of our town’s schools.”
This was the second year in a row that EGEF held its summer fundraiser at The Dunes Club. Tickets to this year’s event, called “The Beach Ball (Bounces Back)” went on sale on March 1st; all 320 were completely sold out in 48 hours. Attendees at the fundraiser bid on silent- and live-auction items, and then danced to the music of “Darik and the Funbags”.
The 2017 Beach Ball was generously sponsored by the following local companies:
